Wave tank testing of a multi-purpose platform with aquaculture, wind turbine and wave energy converters

This dataset was collected during the experimental model tests carried out in the frame of the Blue Growth Farm project (EU–H2020 project 774426). The project aims at the development and demonstration of an automated, multifunctional platform for open sea farm installations of the Blue Growth Industry. This modular and environmentally friendly platform gathers aquaculture systems, a wind turbine and a set of wave energy converters. Experiments are performed to prepare the outdoor tests of a 1/15 prototype, and to validate an aero-hydro-servo-elastic coupled numerical model. Tests were carried out in the 50mx30mx5m hydrodynamic and ocean engineering tank of Centrale Nantes. A 1/40th scaled model of an aquaculture platform including a wind turbine and wave energy converters was designed and built. This platform is moored with four aerial lines and several combinations of wind and wave conditions are tested based on recommended procedures. The test list includes regular and irregular waves with the 3 different configurations : 1) with fish nets and with active wave energy converters, 2) with active wave energy converters and without fishnets 3) without fishnets and without wave energy converters.
