Microseismicity catalogs for Lucky Strike volcano summit region, Mid-Atlantic Ridge from the EMSO-Azores observatory, 2007-2019
This dataset contains microseismicity catalogs for Lucky Strike volcano summit region, Mid-Atlantic Ridge for seven deployments between 2007 and 2019 from a network of five ocean bottom seismometers deployed surrounding the volcano summit. The datafiles are in QUAKEML format. Instrument’s locations, their specifications and earthquake location methods are described in the metadata file.

Operating parameters
- Sampling frequency for the OBSs is 62.5 Hz except one OBS (250 Hz) in the deployment year 2018-2019. See the metadata file for details.
Operators
INSU-IPGP OBS Park:
- Romuald Daniel
- Simon Besançon
- Tom Dumouch
- David Hautemayou
Sensor metadata
- INSU-IPGP short period OBSs (SPOBSs) contain a 3-component geophone (Sercel L28) and a hydrophone (High Tech-90-U), while IPGP broad band OBSs (BBOBSs) contain a 3-component Trillium T240 seismometer and a differential pressure sensor. 2007-2008, 2008-2009 & 2018-2019 deployments have 4 IPGP SPOBSs and 1 IPGP BBOBS (See the metadata file for their exact locations).
- For the 2010-2011 deployment, earthquakes are located with additional 3 University of Lisbon SPOBSs (sampling frequency 100Hz) along with 5 IPGP SPOBS (See the metadata file for their locations).
Sensor setup
- Test and calibration: The internal clocks for the OBSs are synchronized on deployment and recovery. The timestamps are corrected by assuming a linear drift between synchronizations.
Data Information
Data is provided for each deployment in two files: one containing the absolute earthquake locations located in NonLinLoc and a second data file containing the relative earthquake locations relocated in HypoDD. All earthquakes’ depths are w.r.t the sea level (Average seafloor depth in this region is ~1900m).
