Thermal and non-thermal components of pCO₂ estimated from ASTAN cardinal buoy (western English Channel) data from 2015 to 2019
This dataset comprises two time series derived from partial pressure of CO₂ (pCO₂) data recorded at 30-minute intervals by the ASTAN cardinal buoy, located 3.1 km offshore from Roscoff in the western English Channel (France). The original pCO₂ dataset was developed by Gac et al. (2020, DOI:10.3389/fmars.2020.00712). The version of this dataset used in Robache and Schmitt (2025, doi: 10.5194/egusphere-2025-972) is publicly available via Bozec et al. (2025, doi:10.17882/106537).
The current dataset provides the thermal component of pCO₂ (pCO2thermal, in µatm) and the non-thermal component (Xsat, in %) derived following the decomposition method of Takahashi et al. (2009, DOI:10.1016/j.dsr2.2008.12.009). Additional methodological details are outlined in Robache and Schmitt (2025).
These data were derived from a collaboration with Yann Bozec through the ANR project CO2Coast (Principal Investigator: Hubert Loisel, ANR-20-CE01-0021).
